OK, so here’s the short story about us…
Sarah and I met in the college group at our church and got married in 2004. It was love at first sight… not really, but I put on the Frenzel charm and she didn’t have a chance.
I definitely married up though; my wife is one of the more talented and creative people I know. We did the young married thing for a couple of years, and (fast forward a bit) now we have 2 beautiful kids. I’m not just saying that because they’re our kids… seriously, they are objectively awesome! Our son Jackson is 3 1/2 and our daughter Raylee is almost 2.
Sarah has been fostering a love of photography since she was a child. She shot her first wedding at 16 years old, and since then has pursued it in some form or another-classes, jobs, etc. Four years ago, Sarah began “Sarah Frenzel Photography” part time. My role at first, was the bag carrier when she shot weddings. Then, I was promoted to second shooter, where I had been learning and developing in that role. This past spring (09′) I quit my job to pursue our photography business full time with Sarah. We absolutely love what we do! Being able to be a blessing in our clients’ lives in a creative and meaningful way is one of the greatest opportunities we’ve had; it challenges us, stretches us, grows us, and fills us.
And to get to know each of us a little more, here is some fun and random stuff…
The world according to Sarah…
*I love all my bright colored shoes and accessories.
*I’m torn between Chinese, good salads, or dessert as my favorite type of food.
*I can’t get enough of my 2 kids’ gorgeous smiles, sweet laughs, and adorable personalities.
*All is right in my world, when I’m holding a Starbucks mocha frappe.
*I love and respect my parents… they are my friends and awesome grandparents!
*I could live in Anthropologie…seriously! The smell, the style, the feel of it…perfection!
*You know the tingly feel of the sun warming your skin? I like that.
*Because of Jesus in my life I live with hope, joy & the desire to make my life count.
*I secretly want to live on the East Coast- as long as all my family and friends come too.
*In an alternate life I would be a spy… like Jack Bauer or Sydney Bristow.
*Cowboy boots and country music are RAD, and not necessarily together.
*I love Christmas time! Baking, making gifts, family time, looking at Christmas lights, the music… aaahh so fun!
*I’ve been begging Derek to take me sky diving and let me get a tattoo for 8 years now…I think I’m wearing him down!
*I talk in my sleep, supposedly steal the sheets & hit or kick on occasion, too.
*Taking pictures makes me happy… very happy.
*Breyer’s White Mint Chip ice cream is amazing!
*I’m loyal, creative, a bit of a perfectionist, a little impulsive, usually cheery, and a tad feisty.
*I have a photographic memory… shocker!
*I want to travel the world.
The world according to Derek…
*I’m always working on some sort of project and I can fix just about anything.
*I hurt when people I care about are hurting.
*I love watching our kids playing together and laughing.
*When I think of numbers, I see colors. 5 is blue, 3 is yellow, etc. I don’t know why, they just are.
*I have a crazy memory- like, looking at my 5th grade class picture and remembering all the kids names, kind of crazy.
*3 things that amaze me:
-The human body and how it was so perfectly crafted by God.
-The depth of humanity- how each and every one of the billions people on earth have dreams, fears, love, thoughts, and individuality.
-God’s forgiveness.
*There is always a song playing in my head.
*I wear sandals probably 90% of the year and really wish they were appropriate for weddings.
*I love bacon; I could eat bacon-wrapped bacon, dipped in bacon sauce.
*I’m a movie crier; Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator….ahem…The Notebook- yeah, Niagara Falls…
*I like a clean car, but never make time to clean it; I don’t like to wake up early, but I love the morning; I’m emotional, but yet a totally logical person. Go figure…
*I secretly love watching people totally eat it: Sarah and I rewind our Tivo just to see people biff it over and-over again until we’re totally rolling on the ground laughing.
*I miss my Dad, pre-stroke.
*I was a History Major and love politics; I have a long list of places I want to see.
*My very first car was a 1966 Chevelle. I sold it to buy Sarah’s first pro camera. She owes me big time!
*I am a better man because of my wife.
